Childcare Cleaning Contracts: What to Check Before You Sign
By Melbourne Childcare Cleaning · Published · Updated
Compare like-for-like scope
Ask for tasks by room, visit frequency and periodic work in writing. Check whether toilets, nappy-change areas, kitchen surfaces, floors, waste and touch points are specified. A lower total price may cover fewer tasks or less frequent visits; it is not comparable until the scope is clear.
Allocate people, supplies and access
Confirm which duties stay with educators or kitchen staff, who supplies products and equipment, and who arranges access. Request relevant staff-screening and insurance evidence, product safety information and induction arrangements where appropriate. These are procurement questions, not a claim that every item is a universal statutory contract requirement.
Write down exclusions and exceptions
Clarify carpet extraction, internal appliance work, at-height windows, furniture movement and specialist outbreak response. Agree what happens when a room is occupied, access fails or a task cannot be completed safely. An exclusion should be explicit rather than discovered after the first visit.
Agree communication and commercial terms
Identify the contact for concerns, expected completion records, review points and how changes to rooms or hours affect the scope. Review invoicing, any applicable GST, variation and cancellation terms before accepting. Seek your own advice for contractual obligations; a cleaning service alone cannot guarantee an assessment outcome.
